KIT207 Portfolio - Devlog post 1

This is the first devlog post for the portfolio for KIT 207 Game Design & Production

This week we were given two tasks to complete, the first was to create a simple barrel based on a tutorial by Brackeys (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPV2KyIb3jR7NpThqBF78byFOrzPKiLmb) as an introduction on how to use Blender and get the basics. This is how my barrel turned out: i struggled quite a bit with the UV mapping parts of the tutorial as i had some complications, but other than that i am quite pleased with how my first attempt at modelling turned out (p.s. Sorry i got the unit code wrong on the barrel :( )

The second task was to model an object based off of something you would find at a tourist attraction in Tasmania. I decided to try and model the penguin statue that is in the town Penguin(image below)

(screen shot taken from - https://monumentaustralia.org.au/themes/landscape/settlement/display/70699-big-p...)

I found modelling this way harder than i thought i would, but was quite an enjoyable process. it is rather ugly and doesnt look much like the statue but i am happy with how it turned out. (Pictured below) -

I couldnt figure out an easy way to get the colouring smooth and he is way fatter than the original but not bad for a first attempt.

Thanks for reading my Devlog :)
